1. Justice TP Sharma of Chhattisgarh High Court rejected the bail of
Bhagwati Sahu, Janpad member and trade union leader of Ambuja – Holcim
on 21st June. Interestingly the son of another High Court judge was
engaged by the company to file an objection. The judge concerned is
also one of the two judges hearing the matter of ACC Holcim contract
workers in Writ Appeal.
2. In the hearing of Writ Appeal filed by ACC- Holcim on 27th June,
the Division Bench of the High Court directed that all issues
including maintainability by heard finally from 16th August onwards.
ACC-Holcim has still not obtained a stay on the judgement of the
Single Judge directing regularsation.
3. On 1st July the Pragatisheel Cement Shramik Sangh along with the
Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha (Mazdoor Karyakarta Committee) will observe
Shaheed Divas at Bhilai in memory of the workers killed in police
firing in 1992. On 2nd July there will be a day long programme of
sharing of experiences and discussion on the “Role of Working Class
today” with representatives of working class movements from all over
the country. We are expecting some struggling comrades from Mumbai,
Gurgaon, Aasansol (West Bengal), Bargarh (Orissa) and Kanpur.
