Binayak Sen, A victim of resource conflict in Chhattisgarh

A presentation was made for the Free Binayak Sen Campaign in Hyderabad (India) on 30 January 2011 by Sagar Dhara. The presentation says that Chhattisgarh is a state which has intense resource conflicts are happening with corporates wanting to get at the minerals and the tribals saying they want their homelands promised to them. In India and many other parts of the world, minerals, forests and indigenous populations are mapped one on top of the other. To get the mineals, the tribals have to displaced, and many human rights violations have occurred in this process, which Binayak has exposed. He is inconvenient and therefore had to be fixed. Such resource conflicts have been happening all over the world–Angola, Borneo, etc, and many activists have been either fixed or killed. Indian corporates want to dig out a lot more coal and iron ore. More misery and human rights violations and more Binayak-type events are therefore expected.
